The FE 50 millimeter F1.2 GM features a state-of-the-art optical design with three XA (Extreme Aspherical) elements. These contribute to consistently high resolution throughout the image area, which is maintained even at the maximum aperture of F1.2. At the same time, the new Lens ensures clear images even when backlit, thanks to Sony's Nano AR Coating II, which effectively minimizes internal reflections, eliminating unwanted light flare and ghosting effects.
With its maximum aperture of F1.2, the Lens creates a spectacular G Master bokeh that adds depth and dimensionality to any shot. Thanks to the newly developed ring-designed 11-blade aperture mechanism and finely tuned optical design with minimal spherical aberration, the Lens achieves smooth, deep bokeh effects, both in the foreground and background.

Even in bright sunlight and backlight, internal reflections are effectively minimized by Sony's new Nano AR Coating II, so there is no flare or ghosting with this FE lens.
Powerful Autofocus and Subject Tracking at F1.2
With its four XD (eXtreme Dynamic) linear motors providing high thrust, the Lens can focus on subjects with fast, precise and quiet autofocus and tracking even at extremely shallow depth of field. When precise focusing is required, especially in 4K or 8K video, the FE 50 millimeter F1.2 GM's responsiveness with minimal delay and low vibration allows the subject composition to always be in focus. The floating focus system, controlled by a special drive algorithm, also ensures consistently high resolution across the entire focus range at a minimum focusing distance of 0.40 meters.
Compact, professional and reliable
The new fixed focal length has been developed and adapted to meet the needs of professional users. Its convenient controls and functions allow easy operation with professional customization options. These include such features as a manual focus (MF) with linear response, an aperture ring with on/off click switch, a focus adjustment switch, and two customizable focus hold buttons. In addition, the Lens features dust- and moisture-resistant construction1 and a fluorine coating on the front element to protect against fingerprints, dust, water, oil and other contaminants. Developed using Sony's state-of-the-art simulation technologies and the latest optical design, the FE 50 millimeter F1.2 GM is surprisingly compact and lightweight (87 millimeters in diameter, 108 millimeters in length, weighing approximately 780 grams).
