  • XYH-6 capsule
  • Cardioid polar pattern
  • perfect for stereophonic live recordings
The XYH-6 capsule known from the H6 is now also available separately, so that you can expand the possibilities of your H5 recorder enormously. The XYH-6 X/Y capsule complements the Zoom H5 with two balanced, high-quality, unidirectional microphones. This type of microphone is particularly sensitive to signals coming from the front and less sensitive to sound coming from the side or rear. Technically, this is referred to as a cardioid polar pattern. These microphones have the largest diaphragm area (14.6 mm) ever available in a mobile recorder. Playing back stereophonic X/Y recordings in mono results in a fuller sound than you would achieve with a microphone. If mono compatibility is relevant for you (e.g. for TV productions), the mid-side M/S recording method may be the better choice.
