With Foto Koch Comprehensive Protection, you can protect your camera gear. Insure your camera, lenses, and accessories against follow-up costs resulting from damage caused by yourself or others. Foto Koch Comprehensive Protection is valid for up to 3 years. In the event of damage, we’ll handle the entire claims process and cover the repair costs.
The following types of damage are covered
- Damage caused by impact, drops, and liquids that is not covered by the warranty against manufacturing and material defects
- Material and design defects in the third year after purchase
- Short circuits, overcurrent, and overvoltage
- Weather-related damage caused by: lightning, storms, frost, hail, fire
- Burglary, robbery, vandalism, and willful acts or malicious intent by third parties
- Theft from a car, provided it is locked and not visible from the outside
- Damage or destruction caused by operator error (excluding mechanical wear and tear)

Generally, your camera equipment is covered for up to 3 years with this one-time payment. After 3 years, Foto Koch Comprehensive Protection expires automatically without the need for cancellation. However, you can extend the coverage for an additional two years.

Protection for All Equipment
New and Used Items
Protect your camera, whether it’s new or used. Foto Koch Comprehensive Protection can be purchased for both new and used equipment, up to a value of €22,500. For used equipment, a flat-rate deductible of €50 applies in the event of damage. You can also insure your entire camera setup—consisting of both new and used equipment—as a single policy.
Equipment Used for Commercial Purposes
Even if you use your camera equipment for commercial purposes, you can protect your camera. With Foto Koch Comprehensive Protection, your entire setup is covered in the event of damage. If you’re eligible for input tax deduction, compensation in the event of damage will be paid out excluding VAT.
Foto Koch Comprehensive Protection can also be purchased for equipment bought from another retailer.

With Foto Koch Comprehensive Protection, you can protect not only your camera but your entire setup. It’s essential that the items you want to insure have a serial number.
You can also insure devices you didn’t purchase from us with our Foto Koch Comprehensive Protection. To do so, the following requirements must be met:
- For new devices, an original receipt must be provided that is no more than two weeks old (we require a copy of this)
- Regardless of whether the devices are new or used, it is mandatory that we perform a technical inspection of the devices at our store.

What types of damage are covered?
- The policy covers damage to or destruction of the insured item caused by an unforeseen event
- due to operator error
- clumsiness or intentional acts by third parties
- Design, material, or workmanship defects
- short circuits, overcurrent, or overvoltage
- Fire, lightning, or explosion
- Burglary, robbery, vandalism, and malicious acts; theft from a motor vehicle, provided the vehicle is locked and the insured item is not stored in a manner visible from the outside.
- Storms, hail, frost, and water damage.
- Damage or malfunctions caused by normal use or wear and tear (exception: mechanical wear)
- Damage caused by scratches or dents, surface damage, loss of color, etc., that does not result in a malfunction
- Damage caused by improper storage, use, or operation of the insured item
- Damage caused by simple theft
The only exclusions are simple theft, pickpocketing, and loss
Yes, rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries are covered.
The insurance coverage applies worldwide (except in war zones and crisis areas).
No deductible for new items; €50 per claim for used devices.
Contract - General
- FotoSchutz Plus: The contract runs for 3 years. No cancellation is required.
Yes, for 2 years, but only with us.
The cancellation period begins on the day the policyholder receives the following documents:
Insurance policy, contract components, insurance terms and conditions, contract information, and disclosure.
To comply with the cancellation period, it is sufficient to send the cancellation notice in a timely manner.
