4D FOCUS - Autofocusing evolves
Autofocus performance has been improved by optimally applying the same autofocus innovations as the α9. So once the α7 III captures subjects with unpredictable movements, such as dancers, boxers, and wildlife in action, it keeps them in focus.

Furthermore, this camera has an impressive number of phase-detection autofocus points: 693 of them, covering about 93% of the image area, and 425 densely placed contrast-detection autofocus points for better focusing.

Fast hybrid autofocus combines AF phase detection for excellent speed and tracking with high-precision AF contrast detection. This system doubles autofocus speed.

Improved AF tracking for fast-moving subjects - Autofocus performance inherited from the α9 provides AF tracking with greater precision during continuous shooting of fast-moving, action-packed scenes. Faster readout of the image sensor enables tracking of even complex subject movements and precise anticipation of sudden movements.

Improved AF algorithms contribute to high autofocus precision at light levels down to EV-3 and provide more reliable autofocus for scenes in the dark.

693-point focal plane autofocus with phase detection not only covers a wide range and responds instantly - it provides high tracking performance even with an A-mount lens mounted via Lens Adapter LA-EA3.

Eye-detection AF revolutionizes portraits -
With the α7 III, eye-detection AF can now be used in AF-C mode to achieve effective eye detection or tracking performance when shooting: Even when the face is partially in darkness, even when the subject is looking down, and even when backlit.

The α7 III features a touch focus function and a touch pad function. This allows you to intuitively move the focus area with a finger movement when using the viewfinder.

Use autofocus for photos while the focus area is magnified in the viewfinder or on the monitor, and magnify the view after autofocusing.

AF fields/points can be changed when you switch between horizontal and vertical orientation. You can assign focus point settings to custom buttons.

Fast continuous shooting captures the most important moments
The α7 III can take continuous shots at up to 10 frames per second with AF/AE tracking and up to 8 frames per second in Live View mode. The camera also supports silent shooting at up to 10 frames per second with AF/AE tracking and maximum resolution.

Up to 177 JPEG (standard) images, 89 compressed RAW images or 40 uncompressed RAW images can be captured in a single burst.

Fast and silent VXD autofocus for precise focusing
The autofocus of the 28-75 mm F/2.8 G2 is based on a very responsive VXD linear motor developed by Tamron, which focuses on the subject about twice as fast as the previous model. Even at open aperture F/2.8, it guarantees precise focusing of both close and distant subjects, as well as reliable focus tracking on moving objects. The AF is so quiet that the Lens is ideal for photo and video shooting in situations where absolute silence is required.

Shortest focusing distance of 18 cm at an initial focal length of 28 mm for creative
close-ups with a maximum magnification of 1:2.7. With the 28-75 mm F/2.8 G2, the subject can still be focused at 28 mm even at a shooting distance of 18 cm, an improvement of 19 cm over the A036 model. The working distance between the front lens and the subject is only 4.4 cm. The maximum magnification corresponds to a ratio of 1:2.7, allowing dynamic close-ups with a large main subject and a wide background.

Advanced design with improved ergonomics and ease of use
The new design of the 28-75 mm F/2.8 G2 is groundbreaking for future Tamron Lenses. The focus ring and zoom ring are easier to grip and more comfortable to operate. Unlike previous models, the lens barrel features a glossy surface that is particularly resistant to scratches and dirt. There have also been selective improvements to the inner workings to achieve greater ease of use. Among other things, the resistance and torque of the zoom ring have been optimized for smoother and more precise focal length adjustment.

The 28-75mm F/2.8 G2 is compatible with the new TAMRON Lens Utility, which was developed by TAMRON itself.
